2.4.2 Trainings

At euforia we want everyone to grow in their role. We believe it is important for any staff to spend some of their time for personal and professional growth. That's why we encourage everyone to enrich themselves with more trainings. For that we have also set up the training budget for our staff and trainees. This budget is also part of the chapter.

In addition we often organise internal trainings (e.g. our internal talent development guru giving a training on talent development for our staff) or invite external people to give trainings to the euforia staff & community (in the past we have had trainings such as graphic facilitation, introduction to holacracy etc.).

Trainings budget for staff & trainees

Staff and trainees have a training budget. For a full-time person working during the whole year, the training budget is CHF 2'000.-The training budget can be spent over the year for training costs or wellbeing activities (personal coaching, yoga, sports etc.). It includes trainings, books, transport/accommodation costs if necessary. It's up to each person to be responsible and try to keep these costs low (couchsurfing, buying tickets in advance, early bird training fees etc.) and decide exactly what would be covered by euforia (if you pay for your own hostel, then you have money left for more trainings).

To calculate the training budget you need to consider two things:

  1. If you work part time: 1. Over 50%: the training budget is calculated on the basis of the full budget (CHF 2000) 2. 50% and below: the budget is calculated on the basis of half of the regular budget (CHF 1000)

  2. The length of the contract:

    1. The training budget is then calculated at pro rata on the length of the contract eg. someone who works 50% for 1/2 a yer will receive CHF 500 (1000.- x 1/2)

It is important to consider that as the training budget is defined in each staff wholebeing mix. Therefore it is possible that exceptions to the rules above exists (e.g. if someone asks 2000CHF of training budget even if they work 70% and this is approved as part of his/her mix by the rest of the staff). Staff can also decide not to have a training budget for a certain here if it is not needed.

Trainings budget for interns

Trainings budget for trainees

Trainees normally have a training budget of 2'000 CHF in a year for a 100% position. This budget is agreed upon at the beginning of the traineeship with your integration coach.

If you want to have an idea of what trainings you could do in different areas you can have a look at document where we have collected our favourite trainings given by other organisations and institutions in Switzerland and abroad.

In order to follow up on your training budget please fill in the tool (only accessible to employee). Remember to submit receipts for your training costs in your expenses sheets.

Interns do not have a training budget but in case they wish to follow a training they can ask for some time-off in order to attend it. For Radical Collaboration trainings we have had exceptions with interns following the training for free. In addition there is many free trainings provided by the EU that you can attend almost for free! Check them out . For most of these trainings you can ask for a scholarship to (Swiss agency for EU trainings).
